PlayZone Rating 1.0

One number for how a player performed on a map or over a period: kills, survival, damage, contribution to team rounds, multi-kill rounds and opening kills. The formula is public — you can recompute the rating from your own statistics.

Game: Counter-Strike 2, 5v5 and 2v2 modes. The norms are the level of an average competitive 5v5 player; 2v2 uses the same.

Formula

PZR = 0.30 × (K / R) / 0.67 + 0.20 × ((R − D) / R) / 0.33 + 0.20 × (DMG / R) / 76 + 0.15 × (KAST / R) / 0.71 + 0.10 × (MK / R) / 0.17 + 0.05 × (FK / R) / 0.10

R — rounds played, K — kills, D — deaths, DMG — damage, KAST — rounds with a kill, assist, survival or trade, MK — rounds with two or more kills, FK — opening kills of a round. All values are per map or per period.

Components

Rating components, their weights and norms
ComponentHow it is calculatedWeightNorm
Kills per roundThe main contribution to a round is taking out an opponent.K / R30 %0.67
SurvivalShare of rounds the player survived: a living player still affects the round.(R − D) / R20 %0.33
Damage per round (ADR)Damage without a kill also wins rounds — teammates finish the job.DMG / R20 %76
KASTShare of rounds in which the player was useful to the team: killed, assisted, survived or died but was traded.KAST / R15 %0.71
Multi-kill roundsTwo or more kills in a round are what usually wins it.MK / R10 %0.17
Opening killsThe first kill of a round gives the team an edge for the rest of it.FK / R5 %0.10

How to read it

A norm is the level of an average player. A player whose every component equals the norm gets 1.00: the weights add up to one.

Above 1.00 is better than average, below is worse. A component twice the norm gives twice its weight.

Example

Over 24 rounds a player got 20 kills, died 15 times, dealt 2000 damage, was useful to the team in 18 rounds, killed two or more in 4 rounds and got 3 opening kills. Rating: 0.30 × 1.24 + 0.20 × 1.14 + 0.20 × 1.10 + 0.15 × 1.06 + 0.10 × 0.98 + 0.05 × 1.25 ≈ 1.14.

Rules

  • There is no rating without rounds played: it is not calculated in deathmatch and other modes without rounds.
  • Over a period the rating is calculated from the sums of all its maps, not as an average of map ratings: a long map weighs more than a short one. Leaderboards require 200 rounds played, like other per-round metrics.
  • Every component exists both in server statistics and in the parsed demo, so the rating is the same for maps with and without a demo. A map verified by its demo is recalculated from the demo.
  • The formula is versioned: any change to weights or norms is a new version with a new number, and all statistics are recalculated.
  • More deaths than rounds (leaving mid-round) give negative survival — the rating stays a number.

Why our own rating

The HLTV Rating formula is not fully published, and an approximation must not be passed off as it. PlayZone Rating is fully open: the weights and norms are on this page.
